Over The Hill

"I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus " (Philippians 3:14).

Above is one of the verses that were the inspiration of the Gospel Meeting we just held.  The focus of the meeting was to "press on" toward our goal of heaven and what lies beyond.  Throughout our meeting we were presented with powerful and inspiration thoughts that no doubt filled us with great hope and a renewed energy.  But the question remains, what are we going to do about it?

The teaching and inspiration has been completed, but we cannot expect growth unless we use those tools for our own greater good.  We’ve been provided with a fuel and it is up to us to use it.  All too often we can fall into the trap of expecting spontaneous growth without any work on our part.

Think of it as though you are facing an uphill battle.  Maybe you’ve been struggling in prayer and worship or even to thank God for the things you have.  Maybe you feel like you’re facing an uphill battle and you just need to get over the top to really get some momentum.  Last week’s truthful and motivational messages helped propel you up that hill, but it only got you so far.  You’re only feet from the top of overcoming your biggest obstacle.  What will you do?

Are you going to let the monotony of every day life stop you from continuing and as a result let the gravity of life’s challenges pull you slowly back down.  Or, will you use what you’ve been given to press on, to get over the first hill of many between you and home.  What will you do?
