"I Appreciate You"

appreciate

She's my favorite worker at the Post Office. I'm typically in our local branch at least twice per week. She's one of several who serve behind the counter, but she's the only one who consistently makes me smile. Postal workers aren't notorious for making customers smile, but she does. Every time she processes a package or answers a PO Box question or sells a book of stamps, she says the same thing as her customer begins to walk away into the rest of their day: "I appreciate you." Just three words, but she stands out because of them.

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver. (Prov 25:11)

Our words can make a difference, serving as a refreshment to those who hear them. We are surrounded by people who do not hear refreshing words very often.

  • "I appreciate you."
  • "I notice you."
  • "I care about you."
  • "I'm here for you."
  • "I love you."
  • "I thank you."

If anyone ought to serve as a fountain of refreshing words in an arid world, it's Christians! Who might you refresh with words fitly spoken today?
