Don’t Be Hard to Find in the Search for Truth

             Run to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem,
                          look and take note!
             Search her squares to see
                          if you can find a man,
             one who does justice
                          and seeks truth,
                          that I may pardon her.
             Though they say, “As the LORD lives,”
__________yet they swear falsely.
_____O LORD, do not your eyes look for truth? (Jeremiah 5:1-3)

What if these ancient words were rephrased to match our modern context?

_____Search the houses and apartments of America!
__________Scan the Facebook statuses and Twitter feeds!
_____Survey the schools and universities!
__________Scrutinize the offices and cubicles!
_____Seek for men who will do the right thing regardless of the circumstances;
__________Search for women who will speak the truth in all situations.
_____Seek out young people who will stand on principle in the face of peer pressure;
__________Search for the mature who will cling to righteousness in the darkest hour.

“The eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him” (2 Chron 16:9). In his grace and mercy, he is willing to pardon those who are willing to forsake the pathways of rebellion and deceit. Even today, he is on the lookout for men and women of integrity who will speak and act on and live the truth every day, everywhere.

As his gaze passes over you, what does he see?
