The God Who is Able to Flip the Switch

It doesn’t take long for most new parents to discover the OFF or MUTE switches on new toddler toys. The concept is simple: flip the switch and you change the toy’s function. Flip the switch and the outcome that might have been expected is altered. Most parents exercise a certain amount of “sovereignty” over the switches in their household.

Romans 8:28 asserts that we can “know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” What can we learn about this God who is able to “flip the switch” on difficult circumstances in order to accomplish his glorious purposes?
