"Silence Equals Permission"

Series: Denominational Mythbusters

Introduction:  Christians know that when God commands a thing we are to obey (Revelation 22:14).  However, what about when God never says "not to?"  Is God's silence permissive or is God's silence prohibitive?

I.  What Old Testament examples indicate we ought to take God's silence seriously?

II.  Write down two Biblical examples where specifying something meant excluding others.

III.  Where does the Old Testament warn about presumptuous sins?

IV.  Where does the New Testament warn about this same danger?

V.  List a few current issues where the silence principle is a key to our understanding.

Conclusion:  Why would we want to put our souls and other souls in jeopardy by presuming with God?
