The four gospels record a total of seven short quotations from Jesus while He suffered on the cross (Luke 23:34,43,46; John 19:26-27, 28, 30; Matthew 27:46).  Of these seven statements, only one is 
found in the gospel of Matthew. 
 
“And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, ‘Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?’ that is, ‘My God, my God, why have You forsaken Me?” (27:46, NKJV).
